Capita’s Consulting business works across the breadth of the Criminal Justice System (CJS). We have worked with all the central agencies, for example Home Office, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC), the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA), the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), and with the majority of police forces in England & Wales. In terms of national level programmes, we were the lead advisor to the Home Office and HMIC on police amalgamations and collaboration over the course of several years, and we supported the NPIA on the implementation of workforce modernisation over the course of two years.
We have also worked directly for a large number of police forces, helping them improve their performance and reduce their costs, delivering returns on investment of anything from seven to up to seventy times. For example, we reviewed the custody facilities of a major urban force, enabling them to redeploy up to 139 police officers from custody onto front line duties.
We are a strategic delivery partner on the NPIA Continuous Improvement programme, which is accessible to all forces to support them meet the twin challenges of increasing operational demands and reducing budgets. At present, we are supporting Gwent Police deliver cost savings and implement continuous improvement in their end to end volume crime operations.
We have also worked with Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) and the wider Ministry of Justice to design, plan and deliver a large number of ICT and other business change programmes.
